Sudan military chief lambasts African Union as conflict deaths prime 7,000

WAD MADANI, Sudan: Sudanese military chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan mentioned Saturday “we don’t want” the African Union to resolve the nation’s almost five-month battle, as new figures put the loss of life toll at over 7,000.
Diplomatic tensions have flared because the head of the African Union Fee, Moussa Faki Mahamat, met final week with a political adviser to the paramilitary Speedy Assist Forces (RSF), prompting rebuke from Burhan’s authorities.
